Three essays on self-employment

The following theoretical dissertation used an object relational approach to consider integrating the self and professional psychology training. Professional psychology training once valued the emerging and diverse experiences of the trainee's self. However, the recent shift to competency based education models in professional psychology has emphasized self-competency rather than the processes that foster the integration of trainees' emerging identities. This paper argued that the competency-based education models based on positivistic science frameworks limited further dialogues of self-discovery, the processes of on-going self-reflection, and meaning making processes of self. The purpose of this dissertation was to continue the dialogue of self discovery and explore aspects of self missed by adhering to the competency model's reductionist perspective. A narrative paradigm was used to better address the constructivist and socially constructed aspects of an emerging and fluid self-experience. The project was designed to include both theoretical and personal essays on self in order to express the author's self experiences and the critical insights for training he discovered along the way as he gathered and was played upon by the literature of self and the experience of professional psychology education. The implications for the findings of this project suggested the self was located in the presence of the "other."

530 Words Essay on Self-Confidence

A more moderate collection of essays on self-esteem published in 1989 by University of California professors underscored just how hard it was to turn the tentative academic findings on the subject into policy. Self-esteem proved hard to divorce from behavioral problems. Did low self-esteem cause the problems or does dysfunction hurt self-esteem? Even more vexing, self-esteem didn’t always correlate with social problems in the expected way. While abused or neglected kids did show low self-esteem, for example, alcoholics and child abusers didn’t seem to have self-image issues (though you might wish they did).

Essay on Myself
There are many people who are living in this world and everyone has different personalities. There are no two people who have the exactly same personalities. Everyone in this world is unique in their own ways. One’s personality is something that does not change which makes one unique and special. As for me, I am a responsible and sympathetic person, however, I am a self-centered person as well who may have made enemies with a lot of people.
I am a pretty responsible person and I do what I am supposed to do. As now, I am a student in school, therefore I do my homework every single day and study for what I have learned at home. I also pay attention in class most of the time as well. Besides that, I organize my work as well. At home, I am a child, so I respect my parents and help them to do house works, such as doing laundries and washing dishes. I clean my room once a week as well because that is my responsibility as being a child. I also help out friends and classmates when they need help. I give out advices and suggestions to them when they need support and help as well. Generally, I can say that I am a responsible person who does my duties.
Besides being a responsible person, I am also a person who is sympathetic. I have been a sympathetic person when I was really young. For example, when I walk on the street and saw some handicapped people or vagrants, I would help them by giving them money or whatever things that I can do for them to have a better living. When I see animals without a home, I feel sorry for them and I might buy some food for them to eat. I used to donate money to the charities for orphans with my family as well. I feel sympathetic to many people in the world and therefore I do something to help them have a better living.
Even though I am a sympathetic person, however, I am a self-centered person as well. Since I am the only child, I have been kind of spoiled by my parents. When I was young, ...

Two studies examined self-defensiveness as a result of thinking about one's intimate relationship in terms of self-partner similarity or uniqueness. Fifty married couples (Study 1) and 106 single women who were involved in romantic relationships (Study 2) wrote essays on self-partner similarities or uniqueness or on movies (control). All participants were then given threatening information-spouse outperformed self on a novel task (Study 1)-or negative feedback on desirable attributes (Study 2). Defensiveness was measured. Content analysis revealed that relationship-similarity essays were associated with good feelings, a "we" focus, and limited cognitive processing. Relationship-uniqueness essays were associated with a self-focus, negative feelings, and substantial cognitive processing in terms of understanding and assimilation. In neither study did relationship-similarity essays reduce defensiveness; in both studies, relationship-uniqueness reduced defensiveness. Results are discussed in terms of the syndromes produced by the similarity and uniqueness essays.
