While most feel that education is a necessity, they tend to use it as a tool for reaching a specif target or personal mark, after which there is no further need to seek greater education. Nonetheless, the importance of education in society is indispensable and cohering, which is why society and knowledge cannot be ever separated into two distinct entities. Let us find out more about the role of education in society and how it affects our lives.

Craig Barrett was Associate Professor of Materials Science at Stanford University. He was CEO of Intel Corporation from 1998-2005, and Chairman until May 2009. Dr Barrett is one of the leading commentators on the importance of education in society and for sustained economic success. Dr Barrett previously served as Chairman of the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development. He was part of the Government’s Farmleigh Initiative and is Honorary Chairman of the Irish Technology Leadership Group.
The importance of education in society cannot be understated. Education helps an individual to select a career path that best suits him and also goes ahead to instill in the student the necessary skills and knowledge that he may require for him to achieve his set goals. Education is also an important social tool as an educated individual has more often than not been in contact with people from different areas thereby fostering understanding among different people in society. Education helps an individual to better plan for his future in terms of career choice and the technical knowhow in the employment market.Rishi Sriram, Ph.D., assistant professor of higher education and student affairs and graduate program director of educational administration: Rebecca McHenney represents so much of what Baylor faculty desire to see in our students. She is bright, caring, intellectually curious and interpersonally sharp. Rebecca is not afraid to approach life’s big questions, and she desires to make a positive difference in this world. Rebecca has come to understand the importance of education in society, and I think this prestigious opportunity will not only allow her to explore the world, but also deepen her understanding of what education means for a global society.
A focus group of Hispanic parents in El Paso was particularly engaged by this topic. These parents dispelled the notion that as immigrants, or children of immigrants, they were unaware of the importance of college education in American society. In fact, these parents felt that their families' status as recent immigrants enabled them to recognize the importance of higher education even more clearly. As one father in the group said:Hehehe… amazing !! Where are the authorities??
BTW, they are too young to be parents. Bihar will always be Bihar. The bright side of this is, they do acknowledge the importance of education in society. Then again, Bihar has always been India’s most backward state.
